Experts Share ‘Secret Formula’ for Caregivers at Home

There’s no question that caregiving is hard work. Much has been said about the time and energy it takes to run a household—often on top of managing one’s own career and health—and the fact that that load is overwhelmingly shouldered by women. (While data from the Pew Research Center shows that men are increasingly sharing the responsibilities, women still pick up a heavier load in terms of caregiving and household duties in marriages where both male and female spouses earn the same income.) But one overlooked piece of this equation is the mental health toll this can take on caregivers.

Keeping track of all those appointments and expenses adds an additional mental burden to the person keeping tabs, which is often a woman. What’s the best way to ease this? Two experts convened to answer this question at the Flow Space Women’s Health Summit in Los Angeles last Thursday.
