SHE Media Co-Lab at SXSW® Opens with Conversations on Women’s Health, Longevity and Midlife Reinvention
Austin, Texas – March 15, 2026: The award-winning SHE Media Co-Lab at SXSW® kicked off its first day with conversations bringing together leaders across healthcare, media and culture to explore the evolving narratives around women’s health, longevity and midlife.
A standout moment came from actress and producer Constance Zimmer (UnREAL, Entourage), who spoke candidly about the lack of opportunities for women over 50 and the need for more authentic storytelling in Hollywood. Zimmer, who currently appears in the series Love Story portraying Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s mother, reflected on how midlife has reshaped her perspective both on screen and off.
“When a woman gets older, it’s a plot point. When a man gets older, it’s character development,” Zimmer said. “Hollywood may not know what to do with women in midlife yet, but we are going to teach them.”
Zimmer also addressed how menopause and midlife have long been misunderstood or ignored in storytelling. “Menopause is only the on-ramp,” she said. “Midlife is the ride.”
Additional conversations throughout Day 1 featured voices including Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Ashley Park, Gabby Reece, Emily Morse, Scott Galloway, Iskra Lawrence and Sheila Marmon, exploring topics ranging from resilience and sexual wellness to longevity, consumer “wallet activism,” and the evolving cultural conversation around women’s health.
The two-day SHE Media Co-Lab at SXSW® continues today at 612 W 4th St. in Austin, convening thought leaders, advocates and cultural voices for programming centered on innovation, transformation and connection.
