New York, NY, September 10, 2025: In a candid new cover story, Kristin Davis, 60, opens up to Flow Space about love, friendship, and life after Sex and the City. Known for her role as Charlotte York in the original series and its sequel And Just Like That, Davis shares her thoughts on dating, motherhood, health, sobriety, and the enduring power of female friendships. The feature also includes reflections from her close friend and co-star Cynthia Nixon, showrunner Michael Patrick King, and fellow co-star Sarita Choudhury.
This interview appears as the cover story of Flow Space’s special digital package, The Sex and Relationships Issue (link HERE).
Interview Highlights
On Romance: “I miss, you know, like ‘early days love,’” Davis admits. “But I don’t even know if I’m capable anymore. I don’t know if I have the energy to go over to that place.”
On Dating Apps: “I have friends on them, right? So I’m getting their updates, and listen: it doesn’t make me want to get on them, OK? I mean, do you hear goodupdates?”
Reflecting on what it would actually take for her to try one herself, Davis says,“Number one: If you get on an app, that means you need to be willing to text with strangers—I cannot get around that part! Number two: Someone told me that people sext on there, and I’m like, ‘Absolutely not gonna happen.’” Her eyes widen. “What the hell is going on?
“Then—you need to go meet them in the world, okay? Like...strangers,” Davis adds incredulously. “I’m going to have to go to dinner with a stranger and miss bedtime with my kids?!?”
SATC Writer and Showrunner Michael Patrick King on Davis: “Kristen had booked this giant fancy safari for just her and this man she was seeing, and six months before the safari, they split up,” recalls Michael Patrick King. “Kristen went herself…that's what I love about her. She has the adventurousness of somebody who goes it alone.”
On Criticism of And Just Like That: “I am one hundred percent sure that if we had tried to do the old show, everyone would have been mad,” Davis explains.
On a Midlife Health Scare : “I really ran myself into the ground… It really put some fear in me,” Davis says. It turned out—as happens to many women who are postmenopausal, no matter how fit and otherwise healthy they are—she had high cholesterol. “It was a very normal thing that really is happening to a lot of people, and they aren't aware—women especially.”
The experience served as a wake-up call for Davis, who explains, “When you are focusing on everyone but yourself, your body is, at some point, going to say, ‘Hey, not so fast.’ You need to pay attention to your own health. So I think as women especially, we have to pay attention to that and feel that we have the space and we have the permission to take care of ourselves.”
Davis’ motivation is clear: as an older mom, “I have to stay healthy for these children,” she says. “I have too much to lose.”
On Sobriety: “Even today I have to stay vigilant…during Covid…all the moms were drinking a lot. I was jealous of that. …That would be nice—but I can’t do it.”
On Marriage: Despite high-profile relationships (including Alec Baldwin, Liev Schreiber, as well as writer/director Aaron Sorkin), Davis says, “I’m still not interested. No interest whatsoever.”
Looking to the Future: “Five years from now…I hope I’m still healthy…and let’s just go out there and say I hope I’m dating someone. But I’m definitely not finding him on an app!”
