Los Angeles / New York: October 9, 2025: Flow Space, SHE Media’s platform dedicated to women’s health and longevity, has released its October cover story, “The Unsinkable Selma Blair,” a candid conversation with the actress and advocate whose public journey with multiple sclerosis has helped redefine what resilience looks like.

In the new feature and companion video series, Blair opens up about life with chronic illness, motherhood, and the power of honesty at midlife.

Launching during a marquee month for women’s health — Menopause and Breast Cancer Awareness Month — the story anchors Flow Space’s October package, The Gen X Effect, exploring how one generation’s candor transformed the women’s health conversation for the next.

Interview Highlights:

On finding strength: “I’m going to live longer than I ever thought,” Blair says. Rest and recovery, she adds, are essential. “I find tricks, because I’ll show up—no matter what.”

On motherhood: Blair’s 14-year-old son, Arthur, helps her manage symptoms — and keeps her grounded. “He tells me I’m embarrassing him, and to turn down my music,” she laughs. “He’s a bit of a punk—like I was.”

On redefining toughness: “My mom’s generation didn’t want to seem too emotional or incapable. But I think being open is its own kind of strength,” says Blair, who has been sober since 2016. “It took me a long time to learn that honesty is braver than perfection.”

On chronic illness and visibility: After years of medical gaslighting, Blair says her 2019 red-carpet appearance with a cane became a turning point for disability visibility. “I was done hiding.”

On what’s next: Now in remission, Blair dreams of competing again with her horse, Mr. Nibbles. “My dream is to ride again — even if it’s just backyard shows,” she says.

Flow Space on Selma Blair and how Gen X women were once told to “tough it out”: “For too long, women were told to suffer quietly,” says Editor-in-Chief Galina Espinoza. “Selma Blair embodies the courage to tell the truth — and change what health and aging look like for all of us.”
