SHE Media’s #BlogHer Conference Series Continues to Build On Its Unprecedented Legacy of Diversity For the 14th Year in a Row
100% of the Mainstage Speakers at the Company’s Sold-Out #BlogHer18 Health Conference Are Women – 40% of Whom Comprise Women of Color
#BlogHer18 Health Takes Place Jan. 30-31 in NYC
NEW YORK, NY – January 29, 2018 – SHE Media, formerly SheKnows Media, is a mission-driven digital media company created for and by women with approximately 60 million unique visitors per month (comScore) and 350 million-plus social media fans and followers, continues to shatter diversity stereotypes by producing a conference series unmatched and unwavering in its commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Many conferences, like CES 2018, have received backlash for a lack of female attendees and speakers – and can even be offensive in their portrayal of women in booths and at event-sanctioned parties. Women comprise 100% of all speaker roles at #BlogHer18 Health, 40% of whom are women of color. This diversity builds on a commitment made by the founders of #BlogHer 14 years ago and has not wavered since, as noted in Fortune, Forbes, Essenceand The Huffington Post.
Sold out with 600 total attendees, and taking place Jan. 30-31 at Tribeca 360 in New York City, #BlogHer18 Health is SHE Media’s first-ever event focused specifically on women’s health. #BlogHer hosts women content creators, bloggers, social media influencers, entrepreneurs, brand executives, and thought leaders in the health and wellness space. The conference will feature a wide range of highly regarded experts on stage, including: Chelsea Clinton, Latham Thomas, Arianna Huffington, HBFIT’s Hannah Bronfman, Julianne Hough, Tarana Burke, Jillian Michaels, Camila Alves McConaughey, Nitika Chopra, Jessamyn Stanley, Yasmeen Hassan, and more.
In addition, the conference’s Voices of the Year Awards celebration the evening of Jan. 30 will pay tribute to honorees who helped make 2017 a revolutionary year for women, including Chelsea Clinton; the Women’s March Global founders, Bob Bland, Carmen Perez, Linda Sarsour and Tamika Malloy; Tarana Burke who started the MeToo movement; Krista Suh, the founder The Pussyhat Project; and Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey, who broke the Harvey Weinstein story in The New York Times.
At the #BlogHer Health event, kicking off on Jan 30, women of color comprise 42% of keynote speaker and 41% of all breakout session speakers.
“Despite the progress we have made in women’s equal representation in U.S. businesses – from rising in the ranks of executive and political offices, to exposing allegations of widespread sexual abuse – we have a ways to go in representing diversity in conference forums,” said Samantha Skey, CEO of SHE Media. “At SHE Media, we are committed to empowering all women. Always sold-out, we hope that our ground-breaking #BlogHer conference series sets a positive example to others.”
